3 agrees deal with Nokia over Comes With Music

3 agrees deal with Nokia over Comes With Music - Mobile news

N95 with Nokia’s unlimited music to arrive on 3

3 will become the first UK operator to range a Nokia’s Comes With Music handset, MobileToday understands, after discussions between senior executives last week.

The operator will be launching the unlimited music download service on the N95.

3 and Nokia refused to officially confirm the deal. A Nokia spokesman for the company said: ‘We are in talks with 3 on a range of propositions and more news will follow soon.’

The service will go live this week at Carphone Warehouse but on the 2G prepay 5310 Xpress Music phone, with the retailer starting to sell the first Comes With Music handsets by pairing Sims from a range of networks on Thursday this week.

For the moment, Carphone will offer the service on the 5310 Xpress Music and the N95 on prepay basis, but other handsets, including the Xpress Music 5800 will be made available in the coming months.

Nokia has been struggling to sign up operator partners for the service because they fear the impact Comes With Music could have on their own mobile music services as well as the symbolic move of Nokia making such an aggressive step into music.
