Operator continues aggressive dongle pricing strategy

3 has continued its aggressive mobile broadband pricing by cutting the cost of its pay-as-you-go dongles for a second time.

The operator has reduced the price to £49.99 from £69.99. The drop represents a £50 reduction on its launch price, as the device was initially placed on the market at £99.99.

Top-up prices on the device will remain the same. Customers can get a 1GB data allowance with a £10 add-on, 3GB with a £15 add-on and 7GB with a £25 add-on. Each add-on lasts for 30 days.

The cut is another example of 3’s aggressive strategy pricing strategy. Last month the operator started to offer 50% off contract dongles for customers on 18-month contracts, meaning mobile broadband is available for as little as £5 per month.
