Brightpoint looks at airtime market after Nokia deal

Brightpoint looks at airtime market after Nokia deal - Mobile news

The distributor plans to be dominant player in the mobile/IT sector

Brightpoint will be gearing up to ‘create’ the business and mobile/IT market after it secured the sole distributor contract for Nokia.

The distributor has been increasing its dealer base and will have a stronger footing in the airtime market as it looks to follow through with its plans.

Brightpoint now has exclusive supply status for Nokia and HTC, as well as a deal with RIM (manufacturer of BlackBerry handsets), and will be using the expertise of individuals from former company Hugh Symons Telecom in the fixed-line sector.

It is understood that the distributor has big ambitions of being the dominant player in the mobile/IT sector, and believes that the addition of Nokia is a small yet hugely important milestone.

Negotiations are underway to secure airtime partners and build an airtime operation to bundle with its devices.

The Nokia deal kicked off this week after Hugh Symons Telecom beat Brightstar, Ingram Micro, Fone Logistics and i2 in the tendering process.
