Samsung is understood to be planning an extension to the exclusivity of its eight-megapixel i8510 camera phone with Carphone Warehouse.
Although unconfirmed, the manufacturer is believed to attempt to placate Carphone with the extension following a delay for the launch of the high-end phone.
Samsung sources said demand for the device had been higher than expected by 30% already but said the delay was no more than ‘slight’.
The i8510 is being sold in Carphone stores on Orange for £35 per month.
The device is expected to see fierce competition in the coming weeks as LG and Sony Ericsson bring their eight-megapixel phones into stores, with the LG KC910 and the Sony Ericsson C905.
