Six Degrees takes on Peter Bamford

Former board director of Vodafone brings 'significant' M&A experience to group

Managed data services provider Six Degrees Group has taken on Peter Bamford, former board director of Vodafone, as non-executive chairman.

Bamford was a board director of  Vodafone between 1998 and 2006. During that time he served as MD of Vodafone Distribution, chief executive of Vodafone UK, regional chief executive of Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa and group chief marketing officer.

Six Degrees Group is the latest venture of entrepreneur Alastair Mills, who was formerly CEO of SpiriTel. The unified comms business was sold to Daisy Group last year.

The company said Bamford brings Six Degrees his track record in leadership in fast growing companies and significant merger and acquisition experience. He is currently chairman of SuperGroup, which owns SuperDry and Cult brands. He is also chairman of MCPS – PRS Alliance (PRS for Music) and non-executive director of WH Smith Retail.

Bamford said: ‘As CEO, Alastair has a very clear and compelling vision of what he is trying to achieve and his management team has a great track record of delivery. The company also has an excellent long-term relationship with Penta Capital.

'The managed data services market is an exciting and fast growing sector and Six Degrees Group is well positioned to capitalise on that growth opportunity with its integrated product portfolio. I feel that I can add value from my experience of growing and developing companies and I am very much looking forward to being part of the Six Degrees Group team.’

Mills welcomed Bamford to the Six Degrees Group adding, ‘His decision is testament to our progress in our short history and our ambitious strategy. Peter is a highly prominent figure in British industry and brings a wealth of M&A technology and marketing experience to the group. I look forward to working with Peter and I'm confident that he will make a significant contribution to the execution of our business model.'
