Nokia invades high streets

Phones 4u

Nokia’s five-megapixel device, the 6220, is available for £25 per month with unlimited texts on Orange.

The retailer also has its cheapest-ever five-megapixel camera phone, the LG KC550, which is available as a prepay handset in black or silver, exclusively at Phones 4u stores. The device costs £99.95 on T-Mobile, or £119.95
on O2.

HTC’s latest device, the Touch Diamond, has just arrived at the retailer’s stores, and is free on Orange contracts of £35-per-month or more.

T-Mobile

‘You won’t find the Nokia 6650 anywhere else,’ claims T-Mobile. The clamshell phone comes with 700 minutes, unlimited texts and free internet all for £30 per month. T-Mobile customers are also encouraged to ‘liberate’ their laptops, with the network’s mobile broadband offering. The USB modem is free, and for the first three months it has been reduced from £15 per month to £10.

Carphone Warehouse

At Carphone Warehouse, Nokia’s 1650 in black is ‘new, easy to use and practical’, and is only £9.95 with Talkmobile. Another new arrival is the Nokia 6220 Classic, which is free to those who sign up to a £25 monthly contract on O2.

The retailer claims that its Webbook mini-laptop, priced at £219, will be ‘the next big thing’. The iPhone is also being heavily promoted in window displays and in store, and Carphone is selling an ‘essentials pack’ of travel chargers for the Apple device for £25.

And the rest…

At JAG stores, customers can get a free Nokia 6301 with 200 minutes’ talktime, unlimited text messages and a free 2GB iPod Nano for £25 per month on an
18-month Orange contract. Vodafone stores are offering 600 minutes and unlimited texts with its latest Sim-only deal.

Orange must be hoping to cash in on the iPhone hype by offering a free iPod Touch with £35-per-month price plans. Samsung’s U600 in purple hangs on to its place in Orange’s window displays.

Unsurprisingly, O2 is promoting the 3G iPhone, but the network has also found space to sing the praises of BlackBerry’s 8110 Pearl, which comes with unlimited Facebook, email and Yahoo! Messenger, and has 600 minutes and 500 texts for £35 per month.
