Vodafone rebrands and cuts prices for Access Gateway

Vodafone rebrands and cuts prices for Access Gateway - Mobile news

3G signal booster Sure Signal will be available for £50

Vodafone has launched new reduced consumer and business tariffs for its femtocell home and office 3G signal booster and rebranded it from Access Gateway to Sure Signal.

Vodafone UK customers can now have the Vodafone Sure Signal, a small plug-in box that significantly improves mobile phone signal in homes and small offices for £50.

Originally launched by Vodafone UK as Vodafone Access Gateway in July 2009, Vodafone Sure Signal is the only signal booster of its kind in Europe.

When the device was launched last year, customers in store were offered the choice of buying the device for an upfront price of £160, or a £30 down payment with £10 per month subscription on a 10 month contract.

The new prices for consumer customers are:

£50 one-off cost (or £5 a month for 12 months) for price plans of £25 or more

£120 one-off cost (or £5 a month for 24 months) for price plans of less than £25

The tariffs for small business customers (prices ex VAT) are:

£42.56 one-off cost (or £4.26 a month for 12 months) for new or existing customers on Your Plan for Small Business and Storm price plans of £21.26 or more

£102 one-off cost (or £4.26 a month for 24 months) for new or existing customers on Your Plan for Small Business and Storm price plans of less than £21.26

The Sure Signal device can be plugged into any home or office broadband line with a download speed of at least 1MB per second. It provides better and more reliable 3G coverage indoors and works with all 3G handsets.

‘No other network in the UK can ensure a great mobile phone signal in the home, because the Sure Signal is unique to Vodafone,’ said Guy Laurence, Vodafone UK CEO. ‘Customers tell us it is life changing.  If they live or work in a basement for example, the only way they may be able to get consistent mobile coverage could be with a Vodafone Sure Signal.’

A survey was carried out by Opinion Matters between 24 December 2009 and 4 January 2010 on behalf of Vodafone of Sure Signal users using a sample of 1,436 UK mobile phone users.

The survey revealed that one in five Brits said that they have missed an important event or occasion because of a lack of signal. 1 in 50 would even consider moving house for better indoor coverage.

Up to 32 people can be registered to use a Vodafone Sure Signal and four people can use it at any one time. Customers can now add or change their Sure Signal users in real-time with Vodafone’s new online service.

  • Robert is right. Vodafone have comitted to a soon to be redundant technology. The addition of UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) to Orange's Mobile Sevice means that smartphones seamlessly link into any available WIFI Router or Hotspot. That gives me Broadband Speed internet and Full mobile phone fumore»nctionality in most corners of my village because we allow each other to use our routers meaning we are always being asked "How come your phone works?" Its bound to be the way forward as the technology spreads And its Free!! you just pay for yor calls in the same way. Why Orange dont advertise it more is beyond me!!!«less

  • Cant beat the Orange UMA. And it free!!

  • Steve, Vodafone have now provided us rural brits, who are not served by any of the networks, a way to make and receive mobile comms while at home.

  • Dont think this can beat Orange's UMA tho... and its free....

  • Wow. So Vodafone have now started to charge people even more money to be able to use there phone as a voip gateway. Nice business if you can get away with robbing your customers !
