A National Mobile Phone Crime Unit investigation has led to the jailing of two violent robbers who targeted wealthy females, stealing £125,000 worth of possessions.

Devlin Williams, 24, of Palermo Road in north London and Jamie McVie, 25, of Portnall Road in west London, prayed on women in a series of linked violent robberies between May and August 2007.

The NMPCU became involved after a number of mobile phones were stolen. The unit used mobile-tracking equipment, which helped officers to find and apprehend the robbers.

At Southwark Crown Court, Williams pleaded guilty to five counts of robbery and was sentenced to life imprisonment. McVie pleaded guilty to one robbery and was sentenced to six years
in prison.
