New BlackBerry Pearl 9100 from RIM in pipeline

New BlackBerry Pearl 9100 from RIM in pipeline - Mobile news

The Suretype keypad is expected to be larger than predecessors

Details of a new BlackBerry smartphone from RIM have been leaked.

The device will be the latest in the Pearl series and is likely to succeed the Pearl 8100/8110 and 8120 (pictured).

It is to be known as the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and is codenamed either BlackBerry Striker or BlackBerry Stratus, according to sources.

The Suretype keypad appears to be larger than the current 81xx-series of handsets, and it has an optical trackpad instead of the older style trackball, according to the CrackBerry website.

Other features on the new 9100 will include 3G for fast data transfer plus
a built-in camera of unknown specification, although sources said it will include an LED flash.

Price and availability are yet to be released.
