Deutsche Telekom has refused to deny its share of Everything Everywhere is up for sale, but said it has a 'long-term' commitment to the United Kingdom.
Spokesman Andreas Fuch refused to deny recent reports on a possible sale and said he would not comment on speculation. He said: 'Deutsche Telekom had a long-term commitment to the UK market and it's a venture that is competing successfully. Apart from that we do not have any further comments on the matter. It's not a question of denial but to be more precise - we just do no wish to comment any further.'
Deutsche Telekom owns half of the UK's largest operator along with France Telecom, who refused to comment. An Everything Everywhere spokesperson said: 'We are not commenting on this matter. It's speculation and rumour.'
A report in Bloomberg this week speculated Deutsche Telekom could exit from the UK as it is seeking to raise cash following its failure to sell its T-Mobile USA business. Sources said the business has yet to hire investment banks to run the sale and any final decision is unlikely until later this year.
