Carphone Warehouse opens voting for the Appys

Awards celebrates the best in app design and innovation

Carphone Warehouse has opened voting for the Appys, its award ceremony celebrating the best apps on the market.

Public voting opened today (21 February) online at www.appys.com and in Carphone Warehouse stores across the United Kingdom until 31 March 2012.The public can vote on the top 60 apps across 12 categories. The apps were suggested by more than a 1,000 Carphone Warehouse staff and included apps covering cookery, games and news. The entries were debated by a panel of judges, who whittled down the suggestions to a top five for each category.

Carphone Warehouse CEO Andrew Harrison said: 'We are all very much looking forward to the Carphone Warehouse Appys 2012 and putting on another memorable awards show. The app industry has grown even bigger since the first awards in 2011 with new apps, new developers and new creative and genius ideas. We’ll be celebrating some of the best minds in the app industry and hope the Great British public get behind their favourite apps and vote.'

The winners will be revealed on 25 April at an awards ceremony at London's Battersea Power Station.
