Phones 4u has shut down the north London call centre for its direct business, Dial-A-Phone.
All direct sales will now be handled by Phones 4u’s Newcastle-under-Lyme head office. There will still be 65 staff at the Kentish Town site in north London, according to a spokeswoman; however, sales will largely be absorbed by the 210 staff at the Newcastle-under-Lyme office.
The Kentish Town site, just outside Camden in north London, was the call centre hub behind Dial-A-Phone.
Nick Fisher, MD for Phones 4u’s direct business, said: ‘We’re pleased to say that the migration went seamlessly with no impact on the day-to-day running of the business.’
The £9m acquisition of Dial-A-Phone is believed to have offered a healthy and timely injection of contract connections to Phones 4u.
Separately, Richard Whitehouse, the most senior Dial-A-Phone director, who stayed during the integration of Dial-A-Phone with Phones 4u, left the business at the end of September.
Brendan Sweeney, MD of Phones 4u, said: ‘Richard has played a key role in the integration of the businesses and in the growth of Dial-A-Phone and Direct Solutions. We are thoroughly grateful for his support throughout the integration process and wish him all the best for the future.’
