Acer is poised to launch an app store in the coming months, to coincide with its major push into smartphones later in 2009.
The move is part of the manufacturer’s aim to grow share and become a leader in mobile devices, which includes netbooks, over the next five years.
It will put Acer in competition with big players such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung.
The manufacturer has released two smartphones so far this year, the M900 and F900, and it is set to release another five products in the coming months, including an Android device.
