Manufacturer has contacted 12 distributors to bid for work

Nokia has contacted 12 distributors asking them to tender for work as part of a distribution review.

Nokia’s UK sales team has invited Brightpoint, Brightstar, Fone Logistics, i2Mobile, Elite, 20:20, Dextra, Clockwork, Kondor, Data Select, Shebang and Westcom to bid for work.

Head of retail Aaron Di Marco is leading the review, and the process will take place behind closed doors until the end of June. An announcement is expected in July.

A spokeswoman for Nokia said: ‘We are very open-minded on the number of partners at this stage.

‘There’s a number of options and opportunities. Depending on the responses we get back, we want to partner with the best people.

‘Nokia is looking to appoint distributors to target a range of opportunities that reflect our channel focus and strategy Ð b2b, the high street, MVNOs, online and supermarkets.’

Mobile revealed in February how Nokia carried out a review of its distribution partners, which is expected to result in major changes.
