Power 50 Profile: John George, founder, JAG Communications
While other medium-sized retailers have withered in the heat of consolidation, south west-based JAG Communications has thrived.
After snapping up Go Mobile, John George has grown his business to 150 stores and is now squarely on the radar of the networks, and of rival retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u. George cuts quite a dash as he flies himself to one-toone meetings with the networks in his own plane.
He is also well known for his love of motor racing. His no frills, low-cost approach to retailing may not exactly set their pulses racing at the networks. At the same time they concede he has become a force they can’t ignore.
