Virgin is not planning to add stores - Mobile news

Virgin recently agreed a deal with Phones 4u to sell its TV and broadband products

Virgin will not be attempting to radically increase its retail footprint next year.

The company currently has 20 standalone stores, and has kept the 100 concessions in Zavvi stores since it was rebranded from Virgin Megastores through a management buy-out.

Managing director Graeme Oxby referred to Virgin’s main rivals in the broadband market (Sky and BT) when he said: ‘It should be pointed out that the vast majority of broadband hasn’t been sold in a shop. We have built a business without shops and proved, just like Sky and BT, that you can get net growth without stores. We have powerful telesales and website sales operations.’

Virgin recently agreed a deal with Phones 4u to sell its TV and broadband products, and Oxby said he would continue to use indirect retailers for sales.
