Vodafone makes catching O2 its number one business priority

Vodafone makes catching O2 its number one business priority - Mobile news

Operator warns staff there is 'no room for complacency' when it comes to catching O2

Vodafone has made catching up with O2 its number one priority, as it risks
drifting further away from the market leader.

Mark Evans, Vodafone's UK finance chief, underlined to staff in an email that the operator’s drop in revenue was not as precipitous as earlier in the year, but added: ‘We remain behind the competition so we’ve no room for complacency.’

Vodafone added 202,000 contract customers between October and December 2008. It added 87,000 contracts between July and September. In contrast, O2 added 278,000 contract customers between July and September, and Vodafone expects another strong performance from its rival for Q4 2008.

Evans said: ‘We have some way to go to catch and beat the competition, whom we expect to post stronger revenue results in the coming weeks.’
