More than half of Mobile Today readers side with BlackBerry over T-Mobile split
The majority of Mobile Today readers have sided with BlackBerry after the manufacturer announced its split from T-Mobile in the USA.
The Canadian firm revealed that it will not be renewing the deal which is up in late-April after an uneasy relationship came to a head in recent months. The carrier caused controversy when it sent emails to its BlackBerry customers encouraging them to switch to an iPhone.
More than half (56%) of Mobile Today readers said that T-Mobile should not have sent the messages, while 38% thought the operator was doing the right thing in offering its customers an alternative. Only 6% were undecided.
Concerning news of their divorce, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said: ‘BlackBerry has had a positive relationship with T-Mobile for many years. Regretfully, at this time, our strategies are not complementary and we must act in the best interest of our BlackBerry customers. We hope to work with T-Mobile again in the future when our business strategies are aligned. We are deeply grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers and will do everything in our power to provide continued support with your existing carrier or ensure a smooth transition to our other carrier partners.’
