It’s clearly an interesting time at present in the local and global economies and at times like this you tend to concentrate on what you are good at and not take too many chances. Keep your head down and wait for bad times to pass and hope to pop out the other end with a roof over your head. We get that. But we still want all of our dealers to be the best of breed.

You are in a pretty unique position in your local community. You hold the tools to both save your customers money and also make them more efficient and productive. They need you now more than ever. Our advice would be to make sure that they all know clearly what you can offer whether it be mobile email or mobile broadband solutions or a thorough tariff review. It still amazes me how many businesses are blindly paying through the nose each month when they could be making big savings. So get your e-shots and newsletters flowing around the local business community. Recession-busting support from your local mobile specialist!

I’ve read a lot of trade media stories criticising how distributors have gone to market with the new O2 commercials. I trust that for HSC O2 dealers the impact has not been too painful. Yes there are changes to adapt to but as you will see in our November price guide we have been totally consistent with our pricing from day one. From what I have seen we are paying the highest revenue share rate across distribution and not trying to use smoke and mirrors to soften the impact. If you have medium to high spending business customers you need to get them onto O2 as soon as you can. Never before have you had the opportunity to earn as much from your customers as you do now.

As I mentioned last month, the future state of your business is likely to be very different than the current state if you do adopt the philosophy that ‘Unified Communications’ (UC) solutions, involving not only mobile but fixed telecom and IT products and services, are the future of business communication.
