Week 1: T-Mobile and Orange lead in quiet start 2009

bubble Comment on this

T-Mobile and Orange are making the running post Christmas, and Virgin Mobile returns to the fray with contract offers.

Orange uses a familiar ploy of big headline offers that are none too exciting close up: headlines promise half price handsets, but that’s on a crop of undesirables such as the Motorola E8 (down to £85) it own brand New York (now £24.50) and the Alcatel OTE (£5). Other deals include home and mobile broadband and a £15 a month tariff for dealseekers.

T-Mobile on the othe rhand is pushing the G1 ‘Google’ phone and some heavy savings on Motorola and Samsung end of line stock.

Carphone has some headline grabbing half price deals on Sony Ericsson stock, and is also plugging clearance sales through e2save.

Vodafone and 3 are noticeable quiet this week.
