i2, another foreign distribution giant, is planning to arrive in the UK market − hot on the heels of Brightstar and Brightpoint. The distributor is based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and has established a major footprint in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East. It is now looking at the UK as its next move, and already has a small office in west London in partnership with Allied TC.i2 applied for a distribution agreement for the UK Nokia consumer distribution licence earlier this year as a potential route into the UK, building on its existing strong relationship with Nokia in other countries.i2 is the primary Nokia distributor in the Middle East; it retails in 22 markets across the Middle East and Africa. An i2 spokeswoman said: ‘As it is not a market we distribute in currently, we feel unable to comment on the UK distribution market.’
