Monitise has tripled the value of payments and transfers over its technology platform, live transactions and registered users in the last year, from $10bn to $31bn. 

Announcing the rise at Mobile World Congress, the company said the value of payments and transfers initiated via the Monitise Enterprise Platform is now more than $31bn on an annualised basis, compared with $10bn a year ago.

The company said it is handling 2bn transactions on an annualised basis, compared with 0.48bn in February 2012, underpinned by registered customers climbing to 20m from 6m in January 2012. 

Monitise added that North America is a significant market, with 10m direct registered end users.

Commenting on the rise in payments and growing customer base, Monitise group CEO Alastair Lukies said: ‘Our growth over the past year is a clear indicator of the value we deliver for our clients and their customers. Monetise is presenting the latest payment technology in partnership with Visa at MWC this year. Monitise and Visa Inc. have been working together since 2009.
