Brightstar has restructured its senior management team in a move that will see UK MD Tanny Price promoted to a European marketing role, Mobile can exclusively reveal.
Former Brightstar European sales director Richard Turner will take on Price's UK position with immediate effect.
The distributor has also appointed Ulrich Bach-Anderson from arch rival Brightpoint as European new business development director, with a focus on smartphones.
Meanwhile, Valerie Prince, who was previously at Alcatel for 22 years, will take on Turner's previous role of European sales director. All four will report to Brightstar Europe president Rod Millar.
In August, Mobile revealed Brightstar was building a new European management team as part of an expansion into new markets.
Vodafone handset chief Chris Edwards joined the distributor as European vendor and purchasing director as part of the move. He is responsible for building relationships with vendors and manufacturers across Europe. The distributor is still recruiting for a European head of enterprise to focus on airtime and a European head of accessories.
Brightstar entered the UK three years ago and since then has gone into France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria. The creation of the new roles follows several acquisitions in Europe over the last three months.
Brightstar’s sales in Europe are thought to generate in the region of $1.5bn.
Millar said: 'Tanny has done a great job over the last 12 months and now we need to roll out some of the initiatives she has been working on across Europe. She has made massive progress in activating the IT channel for us in the UK and we want to continue that in other countries. Her experience is well suited to this new role.
'Richard has been with us for nearly two years working across Europe on business development. He brings new skills and experience gained from his background in technical solution sales coupled with great man management.
'These two moves, together with Valerie and Ulrich joining, will help our exponential growth to continue and support our recent acquisitions. We are very excited about the future.'
