GK Telecom and desi mobi have inked a deal for the independent distribution rights for the ethnic MVNO’s launch in November.
The deal will see GK Telecom handle all UK independent store sign-ups, supporting partner stores with point-of-sale collateral and promotional activity to encourage footfall in stores. A nationwide team of regional support managers has been assembled to provide training and help drive sales and commissions across all stores.
Desi mobi, the first mobile service for British Asians, offers customers the chance to ‘call around the corner or call around the world’ with national and international calls in a single postpay Sim package that will also house the latest British and Asian content in a free to browse mobile portal.
The two will work under the campaign slogan ‘the best of both worlds’.
GK Telecom financial director Atul Patel said: ‘Being “desi” is about pride; proud of being British and proud of our rich and engaging Asian culture. GK take just as much pride in the partners we work with and following our relationships with T Mobile, Three and Lebara with this fantastic new product is a reflection of the reputation of trust we have earned in the UK market.’
GK, who celebrated its tenth year of business in January this year, recently introduced MagicKode, a short code proposition for international dialling.
The new proposition also represents ‘attractive commission and revenue share opportunities to the independent retailer, for the lifetime of a customer’s agreement’, the companies said.
