Tim Stone to exit Vodafone

Vodafone's director of small business Tim Stone is leaving the company after 17 years, in the latest high profile departure in its enterprise division.

Stone will leave at the end of the year and will be replaced by Nick Birtwistle from 1 January 2013. Birtwistle was most recently in charge of the indirect channel partners business and has been with the operator for more than 12 years in various commercial and sales roles.

A spokesperson for the company said Stone's departure was unrelated to last week's announcement that UK enterprise director Peter Kelly was leaving the business in spring 2013. She said: 'Tim Stone has decided now is the right time for him to leave the company. Tim has been a key player in the growth of Vodafone, holding a number of key senior leadership positions. While in wholesale Tim was a key influence in changing the market, the architect of a number of major deals and as a consequence significantly increased Vodafone's MVNO market share.

'He also spent time running the consumer sales organisation, substantially improving customer value. Most recently Tim has led the small business sales division in enterprise, driving revenue and margin growth.'
