Virgin Media has appointed Vodafone's former enterprise director Peter Kelly as the new MD of Virgin Media Business.
Kelly, who officially joins on 16 September, was Vodafone UK’s enterprise director for five years and oversaw its fixed line, mobile and IT areas of the business, driving services to ‘a variety of market sectors’. He was also president of networks business Nortel, managing a team ‘focused on driving growth, profit and market share’, and has over 25 years experience in the ICT industry.
Kelly said: ‘I am delighted to join Virgin Media Business and be part of Virgin Media’s group executive committee. The company has already made huge strides forward in establishing itself as the main challenger to BT in business telecoms. I’m looking forward to taking the business on the next part of its journey, with growth and innovation at the forefront of my focus.’
Tom Mockridge, chief executive officer of Virgin Media said: ‘Peter’s a very welcome addition to our executive team as Virgin Media Business has an important part to play in the growth of Virgin Media. Despite the economic challenges currently facing our public sector and private enterprise customers, the business-to-business market offers big long term opportunities for us. Peter is the right person to have on board to accelerate Virgin Media Business’s growth and challenge the incumbents in this market.’
The company’s interim managing director Tony Grace will revert to his previous position as chief operating officer when Kelly joins later this year.
