Ingram Micro UK is boosting support for its dealers with ‘a significant investment’ in a bid to increase dealer sales across new and emerging technologies.
The investment into its recently launched advanced solutions division will provide the distributor’s dealer base with technical services, sales support and intensive training, backed by a strengthened in-house team. The division, launched earlier this year, aims to help Ingram Micro’s dealer base increase sales of advanced and emerging technologies to their customer bases.
Ingram Micro UK has also launched a micro services division to drive growth of its enterprise software and cloud business and its portfolio of channel-facing professional, managed and training services.
The launch of both divisions has seen a restructuring of Ingram Micro’s management team. Senior sales director Julian Thompson (pictured) will head up the new advanced solutions division in the UK with sales manager and category head Martin Bannister taking on the role of general manager of advanced solutions. Bannister is tasked with driving strategic sales initiatives through existing and new partners within the advanced solutions division.
Meanwhile enterprise software and services group general manager Apay Obang-Oyway will lead the micro services division.
Thompson said the launch of the new advanced solutions division and additional investment represents ‘a huge step forward’ for Ingram Micro, strengthening Ingram Micro’s enterprise business and enhancing its propositions to dealers, resellers and vendor partners.
He added: ‘Employing the right balance of specialisation and scale, with a partner strategy focused on meeting business customers’ evolving technology consumptions needs and preferences, has effectively positioned Ingram Micro as the new value added dealer for the new channel. ‘
Thompson said the advanced solutions division will target value-added resellers, managed service providers and integrator partners, offering solutions in unified comms, cloud, data centre and network infrastructure services as well as in enterprise applications, professional services, and IT life cycle management.
He added: ‘To enable growth for the evolving business models of its reseller partner community in these areas, Ingram Micro has announced significant advancements in technical capabilities and channel development services supported by increased vendor expertise, specifically with the recent achievement of Cisco Accreditations and market-leading Microsoft Cloud specialisations.’
Thompson said a key aim of the restructuring is to get closer to its reseller base. He said: ‘Our objective is to enable our reseller partner community by better understanding their needs and aspirations and in response, creating new opportunities around advanced and integrated technologies while driving forward the Ingram Micro brand as the premier channel development partner.’
