Maintel still searching for fresh deals after Datapoint acquisition
Maintel has said it is still on the lookout for takeovers, after reporting a marginal increase in sales and profits.
The business announced on Friday it had taken over the UK and Irish operations of the Datapoint group of companies in a £3.5m deal. Announcing its results for the half year ending 30 June, the company said sales had increased 1% to £13.56m, with adjusted profit before tax up 2% to £2.36m. The company said Maintel Mobile had been contributing to sales and profit growth, with more customers taking on additional products from across the group.
CEO Eddie Buxton said the company was on the hunt for further takeovers, following the Datapoint deal and former acquisitions of Redstone's maintenance assets and Totility. He said: 'This has been a solid six month period in which we have consolidated in key areas and focused on both organic and acquisition-led growth for the second half of the year. The further development of the Maintel customer base in the UK and Ireland through the acquisition provides an excellent platform for growth as the economy recovers.
'Telecoms is, and will remain, a highly volatile and competitive marketplace and Maintel has a proven ability to capitalise on developing market sectors and deliver value to customers and shareholders.'
