DATA Select has signed a deal with Bibitel to distribute its Sim-Skin product, which aims to save customers money on international calls.
The product will launch in the retail sector next month, although a starter pack can be purchased on the Bibitel website for £19.99. Data Select marketing director, Jason Kemp, said: ‘We are the exclusive distributor for Bibitel. We’ll be selling it to retailers and B2B. Individuals can buy the prepay skin, while businesses can opt for a postpay solution with one bill for all staff.
‘Bibitel guarantees to cut B2B international calls by 50%, so Data Select is pushing it as a product that can halve international calling costs.’
The Sim-Skin slips on top of the user’s existing Sim card without changing caller IDs and telephone numbers. Customers have to register the first time they make a call. Once an international call is made it goes through to Bibitel’s local switch, which then connects to the international destination.
President and founder of Digitech Communications,Bibitel's parent company, Shiraz Jessa said: ‘Nothing changes are far as your phone is concerned. Once you’ve installed the Skin nothing changes. Your habits stay the same but suddenly you’re saving 99% on what you’d be spending on international calls with your network operator.’
Shouvanik Chattergee, CEO of Digitech Communications, added: ‘We will be looking at the traditional consumer market, the retail stores and the ethnic population, and then we target the carpet market – both large corporations like the FTSE100 companies and the SMEs that spend large amounts on international calling.’
