Viacloud has announced the appointment former Virgin Mobile co-founder Joe Steel as its new CEO.
Steel will replace the outgoing Emanuele Angelidis who stepped down for personal reasons earlier this month. Joe worked closely with the MVNO's current chairman Tom Alexander at Virgin, and is credited with 'shaping the beginnings of the MVNO industry’.
Steel said: ‘With mobile devices and services proliferating, brands are looking for new ways to enter the mobile space. This means innovating the MVNO model and Viacloud is well placed to enable these trends. I am delighted to be joining such a strong team to lead the business in to its next phase.’
Alexander said: ‘I am truly delighted to be welcoming Joe to the business. He is an entrepreneurial leader who is well positioned to take the company to its next stage of growth. I have worked extensively with Joe in the past, and he is ideally placed to develop and grow the business.
‘Emanuele has played a key role in commercialising the business. The Board and the whole team at Viacloud wish him all the very best.’
The outgoing Angelidis added: ‘I would like to wish Joe every success and look forward to him building upon the foundations we have put in place.’
