Huawei has chosen Exertis Micro-P as the exclusive distributor for its next generation YouView set-top box.
The YouView+ DN371T box will be available from today (5 March), and can be purchased through Amazon, Maplin and eBuyer from £219. The device facilitates ‘seamless integration’ between digital, terrestrial and internet television, and includes 500GB a high definition personal video recorder so users can record up to 300 hours of standard and 125 hours of HD programming.
The box is also available in bundles with TalkTalk and BT.
Huawei UK and Ireland executive VP Mark Mitchinson (pictured) said: ‘Huawei’s technology has been at the centre of the developments in British television viewing driven by YouView, via a hugely successful strategic partnership with TalkTalk. We are therefore thrilled to be launching our own set-top box, which includes cutting-edge innovations to personal video recording technology and will play a key role in bringing YouView to the widest possible audience by offering a completely subscription free option for consumers.
‘Huawei’s technology continues to be at the centre of the developments in British television viewing. For the distribution of this latest device, we wanted to work with a company that has strong market experience and we are thrilled to have Exertis Micro-P on board to realise its full potential and market demand.’
Exertis Micro-P head of commercial Daniel Lenan added: ‘This latest launch represents another step forward in terms of developing our portfolio with an extremely progressive technology company committed to delivering exciting new product propositions for the market.’
