Craig Wellman, sales director at Azzurri Communications, is to leave the business.
Azzurri staff were informed of his impending departure last week.
Wellman is the latest in a succession of high profile departures from the troubled company, including CEO Vim Vithaldas, who is set to leave in July this year. Vithaldas announced his departure in January, citing ‘family reasons.’
Other key departures over the past year include head of major bid sales Nick Beardsley, head of communications Dan Roche and mobile sales director Jason Elliott. All three joined rival, managed services provider Olive Communications.
CEO Vithaldas confirmed Wellman’s departure. He said: ‘Craig is leaving Azzurri. There is no-one in line right now but we will replace him soon.’
Vithaldas dismissed claims from industry sources that the rate of management departures is an indication that the company is struggling.
‘Our attrition rate is significantly lower than the industry average,’ he said. ‘These things happen and we will be making another appointment in due course.’
He insisted the company was healthy, adding: ‘We are very excited about the direction of the company right now. We have just launched Icon Communicate and we are excited to be leading the market with our propositions and as we continue to realign the business to meet market needs there will be changes from time to time but this is a very financially strong business.’
Wellman joined Azzurri as business development director in October 2010. His former role was head of UK corporate sales at Vodafone. In January 2012 Wellman took on his current role as Azzurri’s sales director.
