Azzurri Communications has appointed SSE Telecoms MD Chris Jagusz as its new CEO. Jagusz will join the company at the end of the summer.
The news closely follows Azzurri’s latest round of redundancies that will see 24 staff made redundant at its offices in High Wycombe and Aldridge. The redundancies are part of a major restructuring of the company.
Jagusz, who has a track record for business transformation, will lead the ongoing operational restructuring of Azzurri Communications. He arrives after one of Azzurri’s most challenging years, which has seen the loss of a number of senior staff to rival telecoms firms and the resignation of CEO Vim Vithaldas for ‘family reasons.’
Jagusz is a telecoms veteran who is known for his skills in business transformation. His previous roles include CEO of Eurotel, director of Daisy Group’s b2b operations and interim director at Six Degrees. He has also held advisory roles at a number of companies including XLN Telecom and BT Wholesale.
Steve Andrews, Azzurri’s chairman, who is acting as interim CEO, following the departure of Vithaldas earlier this year, said: ‘We are thrilled that Chris is joining us to lead the next phase of our growth and development. He brings with him a wealth of experience in our sector through his time with BT, Eurotel and Daisy. He has a track record of delivering growth and commands enormous respect within the industry. We look forward to working together to bring more success to Azzurri Communications.’
Jagusz said: ‘I am looking forward to joining Azzurri – it has an excellent proposition, and enviable customer base and some world-class people.’
He added: ‘In my current role I work with Azzurri as both a supplier and a customer, and I know the business is very well positioned to compete in the changing communications marketplace.’
