Andy Tow to depart Chess

Andy Tow is to depart his position as managing director of Chess Partner Services. He is understood to have been placed on gardening leave from the b2b fixed line distributor before an official announcement is made.

The sale of Avenir Telecom's b2b airtime business to Chess in June led to the division changing its name to Chess Partner Services. Tow held the position of MD of Avenir for the past six years.

Cheshire-based Chess offers fixed line, VoIP and data system maintenance services to the public and private sector. The company has an annual turnover in excess of £44m and over 200 staff. It has more than 50,000 customers.

At the time of the sale, Tow spoke to Mobile and insisted that the sale of the b2b airtime division would not result in staff cuts. ‘The plan is business as usual, continuing with the same plans and the existing management team,’ he said in June.
