‘The concept of the 9 to 5 working day will become increasingly irrelevant due to communications technology. Business leaders who realise this will have a huge advantage over slower moving competitors. Emails have started pinging into people's smart phones or tablets at 7am in the morning and only stop pinging at around 10pm or 11pm at night when people go to sleep. It is happening right under our noses and the people who ignore that are going to get left behind.

‘Ditching the rigidity of the 9 to 5 working day also presents a huge opportunity for smaller providers to steal a march on larger competitors, and differentiate. If they can get their flexible working strategy right and give people the right tools to do their job, they can be much more agile and flexible, and so be much more effective and competitive, and so start to win more business.’
