Peak-Ryzex challenges operators in mobile management arena

Managed services company Peak-Ryzex is going head to head with mobile operators in the managed services arena, with plans to double sales of its mobile device management services this year.

The Chippenham-based company, which recently inked a major deal with logistics company TNT to manage more than 10,000 devices, provides end-to-end enterprise mobility and managed services solutions as well as printing and mobile data capture solutions.

Marc Begg (pictured), Peak-Ryzex’s sales and service director, told Mobile: ‘We will see real growth this year for us in managing enterprise consumer devices, as companies increasingly turn to outsourcing the management of their mobile devices.’

Begg said growth in this area is increasingly bringing the company into direct competition with the mobile networks. He claimed Peak Ryzex is winning customers off mobile network operators by offering a far more comprehensive managed services solution, which the company has honed over many years of providing mobility solutions in the fields for large companies.

‘Mobile networks are increasingly trying to offer managed service solutions to customers but they are failing to deliver a lot of it. Their versions stick a service manager on the account or a service manager on site if they are bigger accounts, and they occasionally provide a bill breakdown. That has fallen way short of what customers need,’ Begg argued.

Peak-Ryzex’s mobile device management service offers fully configured devices, device tracking and monitoring, software preloads and a round-the-clock help desk, as well as a remote repair and technical swap-out service, expense management and a guarantee to only carry out work on customers’ networks out of business hours.

The company’s MDM service can save customers significant amounts, Begg said. ‘We have come across network customers with thousands of unused Sims that they are still being charged for. The networks haven’t told them. Why would they?’

He added: ‘It’s like putting the fox in charge of the hen house. Customers are becoming more price-conscious and becoming increasingly aware that there are more comprehensive alternatives out there.’

Begg said Peak-Ryzex can also provide better backup than the mobile networks. ‘We have been in the market longer than the mobile operators and their businesses are still about selling minutes and data. These are still mainly consumer-oriented businesses so if something goes wrong [b2b] customers can find themselves put at the back of the queue. Whereas we can fix it overnight.’

The company has more than 200 customers with around 30 taking a fully managed service, which sees Peak-Ryzex managing more than 25,000 mobile devices in total. Most of its customers are in the utilities and facilities management sector.
