Exertis has announced the launch of its Intelligent Configuration Engine (ICE), an online tool for reseller partners. ICE is designed to enable users to accurately quote and price server and workstation configurations.
The distributor explained that the system uses algorithms to guide resellers, even those without server or work station expertise, to the most appropriate solution for their customer. The system is designed to correct configurations when an incompatible or invalid selection is made, and can be used to alert the reseller to complementary components they should consider offering their customers. Exertis was also keen to point out that ICE was unlike vendor-specific configuration engines in that it always displays the best deals, offers and configuration alternatives from a range of brands.
Resellers will be able to use the ICE interface to access detailed quote, product information, price and stock availability. The online tool will carry Dell, Fujitsu, and Lenovo solutions at its launch, although the distributor plans to extend this to include storage solutions from multiple manufacturers by the summer. Third party lines will also be available on the system, such as Microsoft Operating Systems and Tandberg backup software.
ICE has built-in reporting functions allowing for the review of how quotes have been prepared throughout the day by sales staff, tracking the sales process for follow-up, and archiving of quotes. Along with the reporting functions, ICE can be used for marketing purposes, allowing partners to download datasheets, high-resolution images, installation guides and user manuals.
