Mark Edwards, CEO of customer management service provider MDS, has told Mobile that he
wants to expand aggressively within the mobile market.
Speaking as the company announced that its service would be used by Dixons Carphone’s new MVNO iD, Edwards explained that MDS works with ‘traditional service providers’ to deliver customer management solutions to aid with the transition to ‘digital service providers’. He said that traditional service providers are being forced to reinvent themselves due to the expansion of Over The Top (OTT) services: ‘It’s an exciting time to be in the industry, there are obviously consolidations taking place and that is one interesting disruption.
‘There is also disruption in terms of challenges being presented by OTT providers that are taking value from the service providers. Service providers are having to reinvent themselves and become digital providers. What we try to do is help the traditional communication service providers and take them through the transition to become a digital service provider through managed service platforms.’
Edwards explained that MDS’ recent partnership with Tech Mahindra will allow the company to expand rapidly within the market. He said: ‘MDS is a product company and we are looking to expand and grow quite aggressively.
‘Having a partner like Tech Mahindra is a very complimentary fit. By having a partner like Tech Mahindra we can develop the product they need and they develop the product service skills we need, it’s a win-win partnership and we can grow more rapidly because of it.’
Dixons Carphone’s new MVNO, iD, was recently announced as the first client within the partnership between Tech Mahindra and MDS. The two companies will oversee the customer management infrastructure, with Edwards stating that MDS will continue to provide a platform for MVNOs.
He said: ‘We have some other exciting projects going on, there’s another key MVNO that we are working with. We’re very excited about the relevance of this platform to enable digital service providers. We’re looking to expand in various countries around the world and providing a platform -partly for MVNOs - but we also have very attractive solutions for mobile network operators for their B2B segments.
‘This is a very important segment for operators as they have high-value customers, who tend to spend more and churn less frequency, to address and service.’
