Tech Data Mobile has revealed ambitions to be the distributor of choice for UK retailers, with plans to target ‘major consumer brands’.
In a move to make it easier for retailers to do business, the distributor has formed a retail board to focus on Tech Data’s strategy within the sector. The company explained it is looking to partner with retail vendors to expand its reach in the market.
The announcement follows Matt Child’s appointment as Tech Data’s MD, replacing Peter Hubbard as part of a drive to cut costs.
Martin Boye, group sales director, claimed the distributor will look to invest significantly in the retail sector, enabling vendors to quickly bring products to market.
He said: ‘Tech Data wants to be the first choice distributor for retailers and we are investing strongly with that goal in mind. We have a strategic plan and we are making a long-term commitment to growing our business in this sector.
‘We are introducing new services and processes to meet the specific, diverse and rapidly changing needs of retailers. These services will provide a very strong focus and support for retailers, make it easier for them to do business with us, and keep control of their costs.’
He concluded: ‘With our extensive logistics capabilities, Tech Data is uniquely positioned to meet retailer’s ‘omni-channel’ needs. We have the systems, processes, people, resources and partnerships in place and we are ready to extend our reach much further.”
