Two senior figures at Ingram Micro have left the company to take up positions at rival distributor Westcoast.
Richard Wills, formerly Ingram’s director of sales and marketing UK, will take up the role of telco director at Westcoast. Also joining the distributor is Mark Cleaver, who will leave his position as Ingram’s senior sales manager to become telco sales manager.
Ingram Micro goes on acquisition spree
Confirming the news, Darren Seward, head of mobile at Westcoast, said: ‘We can confirm that both Richard Wills and Mark Cleaver have joined the team at Westcoast. Their experience in the mobile market will help strengthen our ongoing strategy in developing our mobile business.’
The news follows on from a number of structural changes currently taking place at Ingram Micro. Speaking to Mobile, Brent McCarty, VP and chief executive of Ingram Micro UK & Ireland, explained that this shake-up is part of a cost cutting drive to ‘de-layer’ the company.
Ingram Micro reveals strategy behind European shake-up
‘We have a global strategy but in different countries we have different levels of market share. That’s the reason why we restructured – we de-layered a little bit and took some costs out of the business that were overlapping to make it a bit more nimble and agile. The revenues are there but the margins are tight and that’s why we want to diversify the business a little bit but we also want to make sure we achieve our profitability.’
Mobile has contacted Ingram Micro and is awaiting a response.
