Ingram Micro’s business development manager has become the latest to leave the company, taking up a newly created role at Tech Data Mobile.
Dan Manser will join the rival distributor as a field sales executive, having previously spent over six years working for Ingram Micro and developing its b2b relationship with Samsung. His new appointment will now see him focus on the commercial sector, where he will work directly with Tech Data’s reseller partners to assist in business development plans.
The announcement makes Manser the latest Ingram Micro employee to leave the firm, following the departure of senior figures Richard Wills and Mark Cleaver earlier this month, who took up roles at Westcoast.
Speaking to Mobile earlier this year, Ingram Micro’s UK head revealed the distributor would be undergoing structural changes as part of a cost cutting drive.
Brent McCarty, VP and chief executive of Ingram Micro UK & Ireland, explained: ‘We de-layered a little bit and took some costs out of the business that were overlapping to make it a bit more nimble and agile. The revenues are there but the margins are tight and that’s why we want to diversify the business a little bit but we also want to make sure we achieve our profitability.’
Joining Manser will be long term Tech Data Mobile employee Erebouni Torosyan, who will take on the newly created role of iPhone BDM.
Tech Data Mobile have previously said it will focus its investment on Android after revealing a surge in demand for devices that run the operating system. However, the distributor is now seeking new opportunities with iOS, explaining that Torosyan’s appointment will expand its reach across b2b and retail.
