European manufacturer Archos has signed a distribution deal with Tech Data Mobile to boost its UK presence.
The distributor will offer Archos handsets to its resellers and retailers to increase the manufacturer’s visibility in the market. One of the two available handsets will target the high end of the market while the other will be an entry level device.
Tech Data Mobile explained that while the Archos brand is strong across Europe, the brand has been less visible in the UK, using licensing agreements to sell many of its products under different brand names.
Matt Child, MD of Tech Data Mobile, explained that challenger brands, such as Archos, enable dealers and retailers to offer more choice.
He said: ‘Mobile devices are now penetrating every corner of the consumer and business sectors and many buyers are becoming increasingly selective and seeking out mobile devices that meet their exact needs.
‘They want to get all the power and features they need on a smartphone, but also the very best value. For these customers, a challenger brand like Archos is ideal and it enables mobile dealers and retailers to offer consumers and B2B users’ added choice and value.’
This deal marks the second time Tech Data Mobile has introduced a low cost European mobile brand into the UK market, following on from its partnership with Spanish manufacturer BQ in 2015.
