Tech Data Mobile has launched a range of additional services to specifically target SMB resellers.
MD Matt Child has previously told Mobile that Tech Data has not done enough to appeal to resellers that target the small and medium business market. He also described the base as one that is difficult to conquer.
‘One huge opportunity that we’ve not capitalised on until recently,’ he said, ‘is the hard-to-reach SMB reseller base, where we’ve got around 15,000 warm customers that have been buying IT-related products from us as and when they’ve needed them. As the lines between mobile and IT blur, we’ve been getting a lot of SIM-free sales through that channel.’
In an attempt to better target this space, Tech Data Mobile has now launched a new set of online tools to accelerate sales in that channel. The additional services will give SMB resellers a dedicated website, web store and marketing portal.
The distributor believes the tools will accelerate sales for SMB resellers. The new services will enable them to access marketing templates and display Tech Data Mobile’s product pricing within their own website.
According to Cathi Low, director of SMB, the tools are the next step in Tech Data’s plan to make it easier for resellers to do business. She said: ‘We have listened to our customers and developed these resources to meet their needs. We see the marketing portal as an important tool for resellers who are unable to generate their own marketing materials, and we believe a great many resellers will be able to use it on a regular basis.
‘The web store provides a very simple way to offer products from our portfolio on their own website to their own customers. In both cases, all this is done under the reseller’s own brand, and with their own messaging and pricing. The Accelerate pages provide them with easy access to these and the other resources we make available to help SMB resellers develop and grow their sales.’
