Maintel is set to acquire Azzurri Communications.
The unified comms dealer has entered into a conditional agreement to purchase Azzurri for £48.5m. Maintel CEO Eddie Buxton claimed that the takeover will make the combined business one of the largest resellers in the market and accelerate its drive into cloud services.
‘With the addition of Azzurri Communications, the enlarged group will provide a broad suite of solutions and services including a network services division, a mobile division, managed services, and technology and professional services. The new combined business will become one of the largest and highly skilled resellers in the communications sector.
‘This acquisition will accelerate Maintel’s shift into hosted cloud and data, ensuring we are well positioned to take advantage of these high growth areas of the unified communications market. It will also build scale in managed services, continuing the shift in our business mix, which we have been driving following previous acquisitions.”
Azzurri’s ‘remarkable year’
The buyout follows what Azzurri’s CEO Chris Jagusz (pictured)_ hailed as ‘remarkable’ financial year for the business, with the strong growth driven by industry demand for cloud based solutions. The company used 2015 to secure a number of public sector wins, also adding EE services to its roster alongside its on-going partnership with O2.
Jagusz previously told Mobile of plans to focus on delivering services around unified communications. Speaking at Maintel’s acquisition announcement, he explained that the takeover would allow Azzurri the further that strategy.
‘We are really pleased at the prospect of joining Maintel because this enables the combined business to offer its customers a broader range of services’, he said. ‘Our employees will benefit too by being part of one of the most significant players in our market’.
