Maintel completes £48.5m Azzurri purchase

Maintel has completed its takeover of Azzurri Communications.

The unified comms dealer has successfully acquired the company after an ‘overwhelming vote of approval’ from shareholders.

The £48.5m buyout was announced at the beginning of April, when Maintel CEO Eddie Buxton (pictured) revealed plans to use the purchase to bolster Maintel’s services and accelerate its drive into cloud solutions. He said that the combined business would be one of the largest resellers in the market.

Buxton has previously told Mobile that if the purchase of Azzurri should go ahead, Maintel would have to re-evaluate its network partnerships. The dealer currently holds a partnership with Vodafone and EE while Azzurri adds a strong relationship with O2, which Buxton is keen to protect.

‘Azzurri is very strong with O2 and the network is by far the biggest to protect and grow,’ he said, ‘but we also have relations with EE and Vodafone, but can we win with three? We’ll be looking at that and evaluating our strategy on mobile in the next few months.’
