Ingram Micro has acquired IT specialist Comms-care.
The distributor said that the takeover of the UK-based company would significantly enhance its
service capabilities in the country.
Speaking to Mobile recently, Brent McCarty, VP & chief country executive at Ingram Micro UK & Ireland, said the business has changed its strategy to focus more on individual countries and regions.
Describing this shift in focus as a cost-cutting drive, McCarty explained that Ingram would concentrate more on building a complete ecosystem of service capabilities around its products. Speaking at the time he said: ‘We’ve almost got everything now – there’s repairs, warranties, insurance, distribution, forward and reserves logistics. So the value proposition is completely baked and now it’s all about putting it all together.'
Ingram’s latest purchase seeks to continue this strategy. The firm stated that partners can take advantage of the pre-sales support, maintenance and managed services offered by Comms-care to deliver public and hybrid cloud solutions, demand for which, the distie claimed, has grown rapidly.
Commenting on the purchase, McCarty said: ‘The addition of Comms-care supports our strategy to expand our global capabilities and expertise in fast-growing, high-value markets. Comms-care offers a unique opportunity as it has developed a well-respected, unique services model that exclusively serves the channel. We are delighted to welcome the Comms-care team to Ingram Micro.’
