Brightstar is moving its sales and purchasing office to Oxford this week.
It will mean a departure for 20 sales and purchasing personnel from the premises Brightstar shares with sister company TechData’s in Basingstoke to the sales offices previously occupied by Unique Distribution.
Brighstar acquired Unique’s assets out of administration in April this year, and had taken the lion’s share of Unique’s sales forces weeks before it acquired Unique.
The move will be welcomed by Brightstar’s sales team (of which 20 out of 30 are ex-Unique), led by Brighstar sales director, Joe Bennett (also ex-Unique), many of whom have been making the 44 mile trip from Oxford to Basingstoke.
Brightstar is believed to be dealing with in excess of 500 dealers in the UK now, and is a major supplier of supermarkets such as Tesco.
Sources close to the company claim Brightstar is now taking over 50% of the ‘non-Nokia’ market in distribution. Brightstar is eagerly awaiting the outcome of the Nokia distribution review, due next month, to have the full complement of manufacturer suppliers.
