Samsung i8510 ends up at Hugh Symons Communications
Carphone Warehouse is understood to have had its knuckles rapped by Samsung after it pushed small volumes of its eight-megapixel exclusive, the i8510, into Carphone’s indirect distribution business, Hugh Symons Communications (HSC).
HSC is believed to have shipped some of the i8510 (pictured) handsets into some larger dealers as well as other distributors who do not have official trading relationships with Samsung.
The handsets are also understood to have been offered to Samsung’s lead distributor, Brightstar, which was alarmed that it was being offered Samsung handsets that weren’t officially being supplied through the distributor channel.
Brightstar is understood to be given exclusive distribution of the i8510 in the distribution sector once Carphone’s exclusivity period elapses.
