Tanny Price leaves Avenir to join Vodafone
Avenir managing director, Tanny Price, has left the airtime distributor to join Vodafone’s enterprise business.
Price will start in a newly-created role covering dealers and distributors, with the specifics of her job title and duties unknown as Mobile went to press. She will report to Amanda Baker (enterprise sales director) who sits within Vodafone’s new enterprise chief, Peter Kelly's division. Kelly himself only arrived from Nortel in September this year after 17 years at the networks business.
Price’s replacement has also been identified, believed to be a senior person at a rival airtime distributor. An announcement is due within the next two weeks.
Price has been at Avenir for 11 years in total and took over the reins as managing director four years ago, being promoted from sales director following the departure of Ishai Novick.
Price’s lasting legacy at Avenir is likely to be speedily taking Avenir from a consumer airtime business to one focussed on b2b – a shift that has placed Avenir well amid the turbulence in the airtime distribution market over the last two years.
Price starts her new role at Vodafone in January.
Price said: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Avenir and I am proud of all that the company has achieved in securing the market leading position that it has today. While I will miss the company, and the people, I am looking forward to starting at Vodafone and taking on the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and utilising my practical working experience and knowledge of the mobile channel.’
Jean-Daniel Beurnier, group chairman, of the French-based business, said: ‘Tanny has achieved a great deal at Avenir, and leaves the company in a very strong position. As well as dominating the b2b market, Tanny has driven Avenir to seize the opportunities in the IT sector, following the recent successful partnerships with Westcoast and HP.’
