20:20 Mobile cuts 60 jobs as restructure continues
20:20 Mobile is set to cut around 60 jobs across its operations and sales teams over the coming weeks.
The jobs will go in both the warehouse and office-based roles. It comes as the company continues to try to become more efficient and cut costs in the face of a tightening mobile market, particularly in handset distribution.
20:20 UK CEO James Browning said: ‘These changes are not primarily driven by the state of the market. Clearly we have to respond to the difficulties our customers and vendors face and remain highly competitive on price.’
The company took a major chunk out of its workforce in the autumn of last year when it integrated the 20:20 Logistics, Caudwell Logistics and Dextra businesses, leading to a big redundancy process as the management assessed any duplication of roles between the three divisions. Prior to that, in August, 110 people lost their jobs as 20:20 shut down the MPRC repairs business following Phones 4u pulling its contract with the repairer.
